Туровские Евангелия в литовских библиотечных фондах

ENThe article holds some results of a study of old Cyrillo-Methodian manuscripts. The manuscripts under study are canonical Gospels, Turau Gospel from the 11th century, Pinsk Gospel from the 14th century and Second Turau Gospel from the 16th century, which are preserved in the Department of Manuscripts at the Library of Lithuanian Academy of Sciences. The article analyzes how the texts are locally connected with the ethnic-cultural region of Turau. In this context, it is important to determine local features in the texts’ language on lexical, grammatical and graphic-orthographical levels. The detected features can be characterized as irregular, unconventional and demonstrating elements of local influence on canonical texts. These manuscripts have never been examined as representatives of the Turau local tradition in the Old Church Slavonic language. Preliminary findings of the analysis of the texts’ language illustrate that these manuscripts hand down the ancient tradition, while digressions from the standard are very sporadic and non-systematic. We can interpret it as an evidence of a conservative nature of the Turau local type of the Cyrillo-Methodian language tradition. However, these findings are prelusive and need to be further elaborated.
