ENFor a long time the artist, painter, set designer Barbora Didžiokienė (1896-1976) was hiding in the shadow of her husband, painter Vladas Didžiokas. Not withstanding that in-between the wars Kaunas'artist was popular and there were quite a few publications about her both in her lifetime and after her death as well; her not so prolific but unique and interesting creative heritage was examined only in a passing-by manner. Her biography was fictionalized, her personality poetized and the evaluations of her creations turned into cliches. Art historian Justina Augustytė overviews the creative development of this interesting artist.
