ENThe article, relying on the statistical data, presents the socio-linguistic analysis of the attitudes demonstrated by the schoolchildren of classes III and IV from Skaudvilė and Šilalė towards the dialects of the Lithuanian language. The results of the study revealed the existence of a direct correlation between: the schoolchildren’s age and their attitude towards dialects; the region of the respondents and their attitude towards dialects. The question of the importance and significance of dialects is beyond schoolchildrens’ in primary classes comprehension because of their age. For this reason the teacher’s task is to develop schoolchildrens’ positive attitudes towards dialects as a part of their educational culture. Schoolchildren should become aware that their affection towards the native country and the dialect spoken is appreciated by the multinational world. [From the publication]
