Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnyje apžvelgiami suomių istorinio romano tyrimai XX a. pabaigoje, pateikiamos šiuolaikinio istorinio romano charakteristikos Lietuvoje ir Suomijoje, nušviečiama, kokią vietą istorinis romanas užima 2012 m. rudenį įvykusioje Helsinkio knygų mugėje, literatūrinėje periodikoje, kokios yra istorinio romano nepopuliarumo Suomijoje priežastys, žvelgiant iš rašytojų ir skaitytojų pozicijų, kaip šiuolaikinį istorinį romaną vertina ir kokiais būdais analizuoja literatūrologai. Visų nuomone, labai pasigendama vieningos istorinio romano teorijos ir tokių romanų analizės pavyzdžių, tačiau padėtis keičiasi nežymiai. Straipsnio autorės atliktas tyrimas rodo, kad suomių istorinis romanas dabar išgyvena tam tikrą nuosmukio laikotarpį. Tenka laukti ir stebėti, koks bus žanro stilistikos tęstinumas ir kokių atgarsių jis sulauks akademiniame pasaulyje, rašytojų ir skaitytojų bendruomenėje.

ENThe history and alternation of literary genres is constant object of attention of literary scientists. Novel is not exception. There is a need of research of long prose works in Lithuania recently, not to mention newest information about novels of the other country. Therefore main task of this article is to show the situation of historical novel in Finland today: do it really exist, what it's poetic like (relations with other types of the novel), how do readers value it. In order to achieve the task, author of this article is using research she made at Helsinki Book Fair, in literary periodicals and, of course, evaluations of literary scientists in contemporary Finnish scientific publications. As far as this above mentioned research shows, contemporary Finnish novel now experiencing decline. The reasons for that may be as follows: 1. Some of the Finnish novels simply have historical background, so they can't be treated as real historical novels, cause they don't have the essential feature of the genre - the construction of the history from the very start, history as original text. 2. Today we haven't got readers who are nor afraid of the power and duty to make conclusions and decide between representations of the past depicted and ideological representations. 3. Clear feminist tradition which influence tum historical novel into analysis of emotions and relationship. 4. Contemporary Finnish novel experiencing decline right now. It was happening before in 1940-1950. The main competitor of historical novel then was War Literature. 5. Writers are also not so keen on writing historical novels, because Finnish readers require historical true from the novel, not historical feeling, not alternative histories. Just few investigations on contemporary Finnish historical novel are made so far. We hope for more and wait for the better times for historical novel to come.
