ENThe importance of the battle of Nowogród Siewierski was very significant in the political situation of the State of Moscow at the time. A defeat in this battle would bedevil all the political plans cherished by Dymitr I Samozwaniec and undoubtedly would bury forever the hopes of the "tsarewicz" of becoming the tsar of Moscow. The victory made him famous and shook the mastery of Borys Godunow and moreover, strengthened the political position of Dymitr. However, it appeared that the victory at Nowogród Siewierski was not a turning point in Dymitr's career. Its results were buried by further defeat at Dobrynicze, which stopped the offensive of the army of Samozwaniec and lead to a balance of forces between Dymitr and Godunow.
