ENVarious administrative reforms led to that in Jurbarkas District Municipality area, lands of three ethnographic regions – Žemaitija (the Lowlands), Aukštaitija (the Highlands), and Lithuania Minor – intersect. This fact is very significant for economic, social, cultural and tourism development in Jurbarkas District. In the consumer society, in the processes of globalization and cultural migration, cultural centers become key players of regional cultural identity preservation and shaping. This article describes the 2010 reform of the cultural centers in the district. Then instead of Jurbarkas Cultural Center with its branches there were opened 4 new centers: of Veliuona, Klausučiai, Eržvilkas and Lithuania Minor Jurbarkas region. This article aims to find out whether (and how) regional culture is connected with Jurbarkas District cultural activities. The reform of the cultural centers is presented in the context of activities of other municipal budgetary institutions. Using the available information it is described its present, significance, and the possible visions of the future. During the four years, the cultural centers of the region shaped their and the region’s originality. Veliuona Cultural Center presents local rural culture and pays great attention to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania period. It relatively (through regional costumes) represents lowland’s culture. In Klausučiai, intercultural festivals are celebrated. In Juodaičiai and Seredžius, local rural culture is presented. Eržvilkas Cultural Center pays great attention to rural culture revitalization fostering local traditions and increasingly presents itself as an integral part of Žemaitija. Lithuania Minor Cultural Center’s first priority is cultural representation of Lithuania Minor culture. Jurbarkas Cultural Center pays much attention to the Lithuanian rural cultural revitalization, including modern events activities.Increasingly, traditional calendar customs take on modern forms. The Museum and Business and tourism center present the diverse Jewish, Russian, and manor culture of the town. Although the libraries also take part in representing the culture of the region and country, however, there are not many activities highlighting the regional culture.
