ENThis study is devoted to the idea of the supreme authority in the first code of the Belarasian-Lithuanian chronicles (drawn from the example of the "Chronicler of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania"). The article analyzes titles of the supreme ruler of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania which were used by the authors of the chronicle. It also investigates the chronicler's understanding of the gaining and deprivation of power. The author pays particular attention to the functional characteristics of the power, nature, and fields of the supreme ruler's activity.
