ENThis article focuses on separatism in the Golden Horde and relationships between the Golden Horde emirs and great Lithuanian princes. Separatism in the west of the Golden Horde was not new thing to the local Tatars. Nogay was the first who planned to separate from the center. After the death of Bcrdibek the rulers of the western uluses of the Golden Horde. Dmitriy, Kochubey and Kutlu-Buga, were literally independent from the center. After Tokhtamysh came to power in Saray the state unity of the Golden Horde was restored. The invasions of Timur in 1391 and 1395 were able to shake unity of the Golden Horde. The western Uluses were separated from the Golden Horde. However, the policy of Idegey was holding the right bank of Dnieper in the sphere of the metropolis influence. Lands in the area between the Dniester and Dnieper were assigned to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the second quarter of the 15th c.
