ENThe author of the article is working on his book about the surnames of the inhabitants of north-eastern Poland. He presents the main principles of the treatise. The primary source for his investigation is the Annual Telephone Directory of Suwałki Province (2007). However, he takes into consideration only surnames with Baltic morphological parts (835 surnames). Several (namely 90) surnames consist of two morphological parts, both of the Old Baltic origin; for example: Dau-nores - surname Downar, Geis-taras - surname Geisztarowicz.
