ENThe Prussian Skomantas family arouses a lot of interest among historians and therefore it has a richly documented biography. The family residence was on the southern-east bank of the Skomantas Lake. The progenitor of Skomantas, mentioned in the historical sources, was the person with the same name who died in a battle against the Prince of Slonim Vasilko in the 40s of the 12th century. Skomantas was a well- known representative of the Skomantas family. He lived in the second half of the 13th century. The last members of the family died at the turn of the 15th and 16th century.
