Bernardas Brazdžionis: nuo "Kelionės miražų" iki "... už visų galaktikų": esė, pokalbiai, laiškai

LTŠios knygos autoriaus ir Bernardo Brazdžionio bičiulystė tęsėsi trylika metų. Bendrauta ne tik laiškais, telefonu, bet ir betarpiškai: nė vienos viešnagės Lietuvon metu, išskyrus paskutiniąją, poetas neaplenkė Šiaulių ir kuklios „Varpų“ redaktoriaus pastogės, ne mažiau kartų susitikta Brazdžioniu namelyje Kaune. „Varpų“ redakcija vieno pirmųjų savo autorių, o šiais laikais ir redakcijos kolegijos nario (nuo 1999(13) numerio) garbei suorganizavo nemažai įsimenančių susitikimų su skaitytojais. O XXI a. išvakarėse poetas netikėtai pasiūlė visą 2001 metų vasarą keliauti kartu, pirmiausia apsilankant vaikystę ir jaunystę menančiuose Stebeikėliuose, Žadeikiuose, Pasvalyje, Biržuose. Planuose buvo knyga. Sutrukdė nelaimė, įvykusi tą pavasarį, grįžtant iš „Varpų“ vakaro Lietuvos rašytojų sąjungos klube. Teko pasitenkinti tik poeto užuojauta ir linkėjimais greičiau pasveikti, kad kitąmet įvykdytume tai, ką sumanėme. Deja, tai buvo paskutiniai Bern. Brazdžionio metai Lietuvoje. Poetui išėjus, asmeniniame archyve liko beveik šimtas laiškų, nemažai diktofoninių įrašų ir publikuotų tekstų, o ir užrašų sau. Trys jubiliejinės datos - kūrybinio kelio pradžios 90-metis, Valstybinės literatūrinės premijos paskyrimo 75-metis ir ketvirtis amžiaus, kai poetą vėl išvydome tėvynėje, - tapo lemtingos, kad ilgiau neatidėliočiau seniai brendusio sumanymo. Smagu, kad paskutinis poeto eilėraščių ciklas „Kas ten šviečia už visų galaktikų“ (28 eilėraščiai) pirmiausia buvo patikėtas „Varpams“ ir jų skaitytojams. [...].

ENThe friendship of the author of this book and Bernardas Brazdžionis continued for thirteen years. They communicated not only by letters, over the phone, but directly as well: there was not a single visit to Lithuania when the poet passed through Šiauliai and the modest home of the editor-in-chief of "Varpai", except for his last visit, no less times they met at Brazdžioniai house in Kaunas. Editorial office of "Varpai" organized many memorable meetings with the readers in honour of one of the first of its authors and nowadays a member of the board of the editorial office (since 1999, issue (13)). At the threshold of the 21st century he made an unexpected proposal to travel together for the entire summer of the year 2001 visiting Stebeikėliai, Žadeikiai, Pasvalys, Biržai, which reminded him of his childhood and youth. Plans included the book. However, a misfortune which happened that spring when returning from "Varpai" evening at Lithuanian Writers' Union Club prevented it. There was nothing left to do but to settle with condolence offered by the poet and his wishes to get better soon in order to implement their plans next year. Unfortunately this was the last year when Bernardas Brazdžionis was in Lithuania. When the poet passed away, almost a hundred letters, a lot of records made by means of a voice recorder, and published texts as well as notes to himself were left.Three anniversary dates, i.e. the 90th anniversary of the beginning of the creative career, 75th anniversary of award of State Literary Prize, and a quarter of a century when we saw the poet in his homeland again, determined the urge not to postpone the idea that has been maturing for a long time anymore. It's so kind that the poet's last cycle of poems "What is Shining There Behind all the Galaxies" (28 poems) was firstly entrusted to be published in "Varpai" for its readers. Then the literary classic, who had opened the pages of the first almanac in this century "Mūzos", provided with an opportunity to touch them and through his words, which were said during a literary event in Vilnius held on 4 March 1940 during the act of award of State Literary Prize, printed only once. And well, "Travel mirages" is just the title of the first published poem by Bern. Brazdžionis (on illustrated Lithuanian Catholic youth magazine "Pavasaris"; April 1924).
