ENThis article presents the generalization and the most important aspects of the author’s earlier studies. The Lithuanian anthroponames are revealed after the rejection of the Slavic morphological elements and the restoration of the Lithuanian pronunciation in the analysed surnames. They often refer to the events from the history of the nation, especially to the glorious ones. They are characterized by archaic forms and the original word formation. The provided examples of the surnames are written in the Lithuanian alphabet, if they came from the Republic of Lithuania and in the Polish alphabet if they come from the territory of Poland. The surnames created from the Lithuanian nicknames are divided according to their origin: they derive form the names of animals, plants, everyday objects, body parts, food, occupations, character traits, physical features, mental characteristics and other. There is a group of the surnames containing Christian personal names with Lithuanian elements. The author provides a number of examples and stresses the importance of the analyses for the development of the Lithuanian anthroponomy.
