Summary / Abstract:

LTDendrochronologijos metodo taikymas archeologijoje papildo nemaža istorijos šaltiniuose nutylėtų faktų, nušviečia kasdienybę, padeda ištirti daugelį archeologijos moksle nežinomų gyvenvietėse bei miestuose vykusių procesų. Straipsnyje pristatomas XVI a. antrosios pusės statinių, aptiktų Klaipėdos senamiestyje, kilmės tyrimas. ENApplication of the dendrochronological method in archaeology complements facts omitted in historical sources, tells about everyday life, helps study many unknown archaeological processes that took place in settlements and cities. The article presents a study of origin of barrels of the second half of the 16th century found in the old town of Klaipeda. Basing on dendrochronological dates of the wood of the barrels found in a land lot at Žvejų street 3, the author tries to answer whether it is possible to ascertain dendrochronologically trade contacts of the 16th century and receive their tangible proof. First results of synchronization showed that the wood used in production of the barrels was not from the same area, although undoubtedly the barrels were made at the same time. Chronology of Klaipėda oak wood matched the barrel wood only in two cases, whereas the rest of the wood was apparently from another region. Basing on the oldest presently known date it is likely that the barrels appeared in the archeological context of Klaipėda old town in the interval from approximately 1560 (initial development) till around 1590 (the oldest growth ring in the barrels dated back to 1585). The question whether the dating of the barrels is correct considering a low statistical ratio remains open. It would be possible to confirm or negate the results of the dating only by comparing the defined wood growth position with other Western European oak chronologies.
