ENThe resolutions of the 1564 Bielsk Diet (Sejm) and the privileges granted to the noblemen were for a long time neglected in Belarusian historiography. Uładzimir Pičeta was the first to address the significance of the event in 1924 in his "Historia Białorusi". Several years later the event is mentioned by Mitrofan Downar-Zapolski. However, during the post-war Soviet era, the fact seems to have been completely unknown to the authors of Belarusian history course books. It emerges again only in 1990s thanks to several authors who specialize in the history of Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
