Summary / Abstract:

ENThe epigraph of this essay could be the words of a present day Lithuanian philosopher, Tomas Sodeika, who has described Lithuanian philosophy as follows: "Someone has said that Lithuania is not a nation of philosophers. Perhaps that is true. We do not have or would hardly have thinkers whose works would be translated into other languages; who would become the subjects of dissertations, studies and monographs for the investigators of other nations; or who would be quoted from one book to another." This could provide a grist for understanding of the whole situation of the Lithuanian philosophy — of earlier years, as well as of present times.
