ENThe first mention of Kražiai dates back to 1253. A brick castle was built in 1565 by town lord Mikalojus Radvila the Black. In 1613 the castle was owned by the Jesuit Society and converted into College Atheneum Chodkievi- cianum. Archaeological research detected parts of foundations of the castle with signs of reconstructions. The castle was 55 m in lentgh situated from the north-east to the south-west. In 1988, part of the foundations of the college church from 1621 were found. The church was with a cellar. Eighteen burials were found inside, two outside. All burials are from the 17th-18th centuries. In 1975, the area of the later office was investigated. Remains of foundations and a round stove with a lot of Dutch tiles were found.
