Summary / Abstract:

ENHills of crosses are special sacral complexes. From several dozen to many thousand crosses are located there. These are not “hills” in the geological sense of the word. The Hills are not burial sites, and they are often situated near water where pagan sanctuaries, temples and altars used to be. Every pilgrim can place a cross there and ask God for help without intermediaries, and “feel the touch of God. "Hence, the cross becomes their sacrifice to God and the sign of their plea".
