Development of foreign language competence through European language portfolio

LTStraipsnyje nagrinėjamas Europos kalbų aplankas (EKA), jo sudarymo bei naudojimo esminiai principai. Akcentuojama studentų kompetencijų plėtra, rengiant EKA bei bendradarbiavimo svarba kalbų mokymosi procese. Svarbų vaidmenį EKA rengime atlieka informacinės technologijos: dėstytojai ir studentai reguliariai ieško naujos informacijos, kurią taiko EKA rengimo procese, Moodle aplinka, kurioje bendraujama pagal paskirstytas kalbas, virtualiose aplinkose atliekami testai, užduotys, pildomos anketos, vykdomi virtualūs dėstytojų bei studentų susitikimai, sudaryta galimybė diskutuoti EKA rengimo klausimais, dalintis patirtimi. Rengiant Europos kalbų aplanką, svarbų vaidmenį vaidina besimokančiojo autonomijos suvokimas, refleksija, savęs vertinimas. Straipsnyje nagrinėjamos šio aplanko rengimo teorinės prielaidos, patirtis, pateikiami tyrimo analizės duomenys, supažindinama su Kauno kolegijos užsienio kalbų dėstytojų ir studentų, dalyvavusių tarptautiniame projekte, patirtimi ir rekomendacijomis. Nustatyta, kad respondentai suvokia, ko siekia vystydami užsienio kalbos kompetenciją, gali įvardinti savo mokymosi tikslus; mokymo procese dauguma studentų teigia besivadovaujantys autonomijos principais; daliai respondentų stinga iniciatyvos patiems imtis rengti aplanką – ieškoti informacijos, būti kūrybiškiems; dauguma respondentų galvoja, kad EKA skatina kalbos mokymosi motyvaciją; beveik visi respondentai mano, jog EKA skatina vystyti komunikacinę kompetenciją.

ENIn the article, the European Language Portfolio (ELP), the main principles of its creation and usage are analysed. The development of the competence of students, while preparing ELP, and the importance of communication in the process of learning languages are emphasised. Informational technologies plays an important role in the preparation of ELP: lecturers and students are regularly searching for new information, which is applied in the process of the preparation of ELP; Moodle environment, in which the communication is according to the distributed languages; tests, tasks taking place in virtual environment, questionnaires are filled; virtual meetings between lecturers and students are carried out; an opportunity to discuss ELP preparation issues and share experience is created. The perception of the autonomy, the reflection and the self-evaluation play an important role in the preparation of European Language Portfolio. In the article, the theoretical assumptions, the experience of the preparation of this portfolio are analysed, the data of the analysis of the research is presented, the experience and the recommendations of the lecturers and the students of Kaunas kolegija foreign languages are introduced. It is found that the respondents perceive, what is the aim, while developing the competence of foreign language, they can name the aims of learning; in the process of learning, the majority of students state to be following the autonomy principles; part of the respondents lacks initiative to prepare the portfolio themselves – to search for information, be creative; the majority of respondents think that ELP encourages the motivation of learning languages; almost all respondents think that ELP encourages the development of communicational competence.
