Miestas kaip multikultūrinė erdvė

LTStraipsnio tikslas yra atskleisti miesto erdvės įvairovę, jos ryšius su etninių grupių gyvenimo būdu ir kitom charakteristikomis. Autorė siekia parodyti, kaip gali būti saugojamas ir įtvirtinamas įvairių tautinių grupių identitetas vietovės, miesto organizacijoj, kaip šių grupių problemos gali atsiskleisti erdvinėse struktūrose. Straipsnio medžiaga grindžiama autorės įžvalgomis, istorine ir teorine medžiaga, etnografinių ekspedicijų metu užrašytų žmonių gyvenimo istorijų, neformalių interviu fragmentais. (Ypač reikšmingas gyvenimo istorijų bruožas yra jose ryškėjantys įvairių kartų gyvensenos pokyčiai, žmonių santykių įvertinimai.).

ENDr. Anelė Vosyliūtė in her report “The City as a Multicultural Space” discusses the consolidation of the identity of various national groups in their living environments and how their problems may be reflected in the spatial structures. The author of the report affirms that in the modem societies such consolidation's predetermined by urbanization, communication, and globalization factors. The ethnic groups are in need not only of the preservation of their originality, but also of the openness of the social life, by revealing its materialistic and social powers to others. The seclusion of social systems hinders their spread and development, denies differences, and can raise intolerance and conflicts.
