LTKultūra yra daugelio socialinių bei humanitarinių mokslų studijų objektas. Sociologą domina visuomeniniai kultūros aspektai, jos įtaka žmonių gyvenimui, pokyčiai visuomenėje, įvairiose jos veiklos srityse neišvengiamai daro įtaką tiek kultūros sampratai, tiek jos turiniui. Straipsnyje aptariama kultūros sampratos plėtra bei pagrindinės jos charakteristikos. Analizuojamas informacinės visuomenės vaidmuo, technologijos ir kultūros, mokslo ir materialinės kultūros santykis bei kiti kultūros sampratą bei vaidmenį visuomenėje lemiantys veiksniai.
ENCulture is an object of social and humanitarian sciences, therefore sociologists are interested in social aspects of culture and its influence on human life. Social changes in different sides of society indubitably influence the development of incept and the content of culture. In the article the concept of culture and the peculiarities of its content are analysed. The role of information society, the relations between technology and culture, science and material culture are discussed, too.
