ENThe aim of this paper is to show the ambivalent reception of Dostoyevsky's works by Miłosz. The Polish poet had interested in the religion thought of Russian writer rather late, properly only when he became the Professor at Berkeley University. On the one hand, the Polish poet very admired Dostoyevsky's beliefs, on the other, he questioned them. Miłosz valued Dostoyevsky's desire to defend the faith of evangelical Christ against the "truth" of science and "truth" of philosophy. He admired Dostoyevsky's dispute with the orthodox Church, helpless against the erosion of the religious imagination. In his battle for Christ Dostoyevsky became the heresiarch. But, according to Miłosz, Dostoyevsky turned out to be a nationalist in his heresy, he believed in "Russian" Christ, which would bring the "true" Christ. The Polish poet rejected the nationalist and messianic Dostoyevsky's fantasies. [From the publication]
