Qui a peur de Christian Donelaitis? Les rendez-vous manqués des français avec une oeuvre majeure de la littérature mondiale

Vienas ryškiausių lietuvių literatūros kūrinių – Donelaičio „Metai“ – yra išverstas į penkioliką kalbų, tačiau nėra pilno vertimo į prancūzų kalbą. Iki šiol įvairiose antologijose publikuota tik keletas ištraukų. Nuo XIX a. iki šių dienų prancūzai nėra giliau susipažinę su didžiuoju lietuvių poetu. Komunikacijos stoka lemia prancūzų recepcijos ir kritikos nebuvimą. Nuorodų į kūrinį arba visai nėra, arba jis nusakomas keliomis standartinėmis frazėmis. Prancūzai, kurie negali Donelaičio perskaityti lietuvių kalba, gali skaityti jo kūrinį vokiečių kalba, kurį 1989 metais išvertė Georgas Nesselmanas. Vis dėlto skurdūs komentarai liudija, kad kūrinys nėra skaitomas. Šio darbo tikslas – surinkti nuo XIX a. publikuotus atsiliepimus apie kūrinį frankofoniškuose kraštuose ir Prancūzijoje. Ši apžvalga atskleidžia, kad tai daugiausia informacija apie vertimus arba antrinės nuorodos. Iš esmės prancūzai iki šiol galėjo susipažinti su kūriniu tik tarpininkaujant lenkų ir vokiečių rašytojams ir pasikliauti jų požiūriu. Viena pirmųjų recenzijų prancūzų kalbą buvo paskelbta lenkų periodiniame leidinyje 1883 metais. Iki XX a. pabaigos kūrinys nesulaukė net deramo slavų ir baltų literatūros specialistų dėmesio. Tyrimą vainikuoja imagologinės prancūzų reprezentacijos „Metuose“ analize, atskleidžianti stereotipinį prancūzų įsivaizdavimą.
ENThe article is dedicated to the reception of Kristijonas Donelaitis in France. One of the most prominent Lithuanian literary works – "Metai" ("The Seasons") by Donelaitis – has been translated to fifteen languages, however, there is no complete translation to French. Until now only certain extracts of the book would be published in anthologies. From the 19th century until now the French lack a deeper knowledge of the famous Lithuanian poet. The lack of communication resulted in the absence of reception and critique from the French society. There are either no references to the work whatsoever, or it is described in a few standard phrases. The French that are unable to read "Metai" ("The Seasons") in Lithuanian, may use the translation to German, provided by Georg Nesselmann in 1989. Despite this fact, the lacklustre comments reveal that the poem is not being read. The object of this research is to obtain the feedback on the work, published in the 19th century and following, from France and other French-speaking regions. The overview revealed that such feedback was mostly information on the translations or secondary references. It appears that the French could only be introduced to "Metai" ("The Seasons") through Polish and German writers and their approach. One of the first reviews of the book in French was published in a Polish periodical magazine in 1883. The poem did not receive adequate attention and feedback even from the Slavic or Baltic literary specialists. The research is concluded with the imagological analysis of the representation of the French in "Metai" ("The Seasons"), which revealed the stereotypical view of the French that the author held.
