LTPristatoma 2004 m. Lietuvos akademinės literatūros rinkoje pasirodžiusios D.Stone knygos Viešosios politikos paradoksai: sprendimų priėmimo menas politikoje (Vilnius, Eugrimas) vertimo recenzija. Teigiama, jog knyga siekiama sukurti atsvarą viešojo administravimo ir viešosios politikos sferoje vyraujančiam racionaliajam mąstymui, atmetant prieštaravimą tarp politinių sprendimų priėmimo ir racionalios analizės. D.Stone pasirinkta teorinė kryptis leidžia viešosios politikos studijas suartinti su bendrosiomis politikos mokslų teorijomis ar jos specifinėmis kryptimis; kita vertus, atkreipiamas dėmesys, jog knyga yra naudingesnė politikos tyrinėtojams ir analitikams, o ne viešosios politikos praktikams, kurie nagrinėja problemas bei ieško jų sprendimo būdų. Recenzijos autorius prognozuoja, jog ateityje knygos aktualumas neturėtų sumažėti, nes gali išryškėti šiuo metu Lietuvoje populiarių sprendimo priėmimo procesuose diegiamų racionalių analizės modelių ribos bei trūkumai, kurie skatins ieškoti alternatyvių viešosios politikos analizės būdų.

ENThe article presents a review of the translation of the book by D.Stone titled Policy Paradox: The Art of Political Decision Making that appeared on the Lithuanian academic literature market in 2004. The book is said to be aiming to create a counterweight to the rational thinking that dominates the public administration and public policy area, dismissing the controversy between political decision making and rational analysis. The theoretical axis adopted by D.Stone allows bringing public policy studies closer to the general theories of political sciences or their specific directions; on the other hand, one should note that the book is of more use for political researchers and analysts rather than public policy practitioners that scrutinise issues and look for ways to tackle them. The author of the review predicts that in future, the relevance of the book is unlikely to decrease, as limits and drawbacks of rational analysis models that currently apply in the making of decisions that are popular in Lithuania may be defined, calling to search for alternative ways to analyse public policy.
