Kaip keitėsi Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės vakarinių sienų samprata XIII-XVI a

LTViduramžiais valstybės sienų samprata buvo kitokia nei šiandien. Sienų klasifikavimas, skirtingų atribojimo tikslų identifikavimas yra svarbi Viduramžių istorijos problema. Lietuvos Didžioji Kunigaikštystė (LDK) buvo didelė valstybė, todėl sienų specifika įvairiuose jos pakraščiuose skyrėsi. Savitai klostėsi LDK vakarinių sienų samprata ir žymėjimo ypatybės. Šiame pasienio ruože laikui bėgant susiklostė siena kaip „linija“. Straipsnyje tiriama šio fenomeno raida XIII–XV a. Remiamasi tarptautinių sutarčių ir kitų šaltinių duomenimis. XIII a. į Pabaltijį atsikėlęs Vokiečių ordinas siekė užkariauti baltų žemes, tad nekėlė tikslo tartis su Lietuva dėl sienų. Tuo tarpu Lietuva formavosi kaip eklektiškas valstybinis teritorinis darinys, kurio paskirų teritorijų ribas atitikdavo stambūs gamtiniai objektai. Lietuvos valdovų siekis nustatyti sienas su Vokiečių ordinu išryškėjo XIV a. antroje pusėje. 1379 m. Ordino ir LDK teritorijų „pasidalijimo“ sutartyje pateikiamas veikiausiai pirmas sienų tarp valstybių aprašas. Tačiau XIV a. tarpvalstybinėse LDK sutartyse būdavo pateikiamos tik abstrakčios pirmųjų valstybės „sienų“ gairės. Tam tikras proveržis delimituojant LDK sienas pastebimas Vytauto valdymo laikais. 1398 m. LDK ir Ordino sudaryta Salyno taikos sutartimi priskyrus Žemaitiją Ordinui, tarpvalstybinė sienos „linija“ buvo nubrėžta tikslingai. XV a. antrajame dešimtmetyje sudarytos naujos tarpvalstybinės sutartys suformavo politines LDK sienas su Ordinu. Šios sienos ilgainiui tapo atskaitos tašku sudarant tarpvalstybines sutartis, keičiant ir atnaujinant sienas.

ENIn the Middle Ages, the concept of country borders was different from present one. The classification of borders and the identification of different delimitation purposes was an important issue in the history of the Middle Ages. The Grand Duchy of Lithuania (GDL) was a large country; therefore, the specifics of borders at different places were different. The concept and marking features of western borders of the Great Duchy of Lithuania were developed individually. Over time, the border in this frontier has emerged as a line. The article analyses the development of this phenomenon in the XIII-XV centuries. The article is based on data from international treaties and other sources. In XIII century the German Order migrating to the Baltic States, was aiming to conquer the Baltic lands; therefore, it did not aim to negotiate borders with Lithuania. At the time Lithuania was forming as an eclectic territorial state unit, the separate territory borders of which were matched by large natural objects. The aim of the rulers of Lithuania to establish borders with the German Order was revealed in the second half of the XIV century. In the agreement of territory division between German Order and GDL signed in 1379 includes probably the first description of the borders between these two states. However, in the XIV century the transnational treaties of the GDL had included only abstract guidelines of the first state borders. A certain breakthrough when delimiting borders of the GDL was evident during ruling times of Vytautas. In 1398, when the Salynas Peace Treaty signed by the Order had assigned Samogitia to the Order, the cross-border line was drawn up purposefully. New treaties signed in the second decade of the XV century had formed the political borders of the GDL and the Order. In the long run, these borders have become the starting point for cross-border treaties when changing and renewing borders.
