ENIn 1969, the historic part of the town Žagarė, which was formed before the First World War, was given the local status of urbanistic monument. There were established the valuable boundaries of the territory, protected plan and spatial structure elements – a New Žagarė square plan and its spatial composition, a street network of the historic centre, building fragments with their surroundings, and red-brick houses. The author describes the urbanistic development of Žagarė during the period of 1970–2006.
