ENThe supposition that the source known in scientific literature "The List of Near and Remote Russian Towns" was made following the ethnic principle of town grouping is raised and substantiated in the article. In this case the author of the "List" could have understood the Lithuanian towns as the territories located in the area that was inhabited by the Galindian tribe speaking the Baltic language.
