Sedos ir jos apylinkių geležiniai kryžiai

LTLetuvoje sukurta daugybė kryžių. Šiuos geležinius kryžius galima skirstyti įvairiais požiūriais. Čia bus remiamasi dailininko Č. Kontrimo pateikta klasifikavimo schema - pagal vyraujančias ornamentikos formas [Kontrimas Č. 1991]. [...] Sedos bažnyčia turi penkis kryžius. Ši bažnyčia yra kryžiaus plano ir kiekviename šio "kryžiaus" gale bei kryžmų susikirtimo vietoje stovi po geležinį kryžių. Sedos bažnyčios kryžiai yra nesudėtingos kompozicijos; kur kas sudėtingesnis nei kiti yra tik frontono kryžius. [Iš teksto, p. 125].

ENThe authors aim is to look over the crosses of small town Seda and neighbouring environs in one of the parts of our country - Samogitia (Lowland). The crosses are classified by predominating forms of ornaments. The characteristic groups of crosses are: circle shaped, diamond shaped, framed, plant shaped. These types are often mixed. Forged crosses are on the roofs of churches and chapels, moulded crosses we can find only in cemetery of Seda and environs. There are two churches in Seda. Crosses of little church of Seda are made not so long ago by smith Daukantas. On the tower of the main church of Seda is the cross with inscription "1770". So, we can see that tradition of smith's work lasts more than 200 years. The older forged crosses are high artistic, characteristic are ornaments and symbols, which were used in all Lithuania: sun, moon, stars (cosmic symbols): lilies, tulips (vegetable motives). These crosses are evidence of smith's mastership, they are original and differ from each other.
