Transitions of Lithuanian postmodernism: Lithuanian literature in the post-Soviet period

LTRecenzijoje aptariamoje straipsnių rinktinėje pateikiama kritinė sociokultūrinės aplinkos Lietuvoje po Sovietų Sąjungos žlugimo refleksija. Šešiolika rinktinės straipsnių atspindi įvairialypį požiūrį į kiekybinius, konceptualius ir struktūrinius įvairių literatūros žanrų pokyčius; atskleidžiama, jog komunistinė praeitis siūlo vaisingą lietuvių literatūros po 1990 metų ir jos raidos tyrimo prieigą. Pastebimas siekis kitakalbį skaitytoją supažindinti su istoriniu ir sociokultūriniu kontekstu, kuris knygoje dėstomas nuosekliai, išvengiant kartojimosi. Recenzijos autorė pasigenda detalesnio lietuviškojo postmodernizmo ir jo moduliacijų teorinio pagrindo aptarimo, platesnės vakarietiškojo postmodernizmo įtakų lietuvių literatūrai analizės. Nepaisant rintinės sudarytojo M. Kvietkausko intencijų, straipsnių autoriai vangiai vartoja postmodernią tyrimų metodologiją – recenzentės nuomone, geriausiai šios tendencijos priežastis savo straipsnyje atskleidžia D. Satkauskytė. Kiti rinktinės autoriai analizuoja lietuvių literatūros istorijos rašymą postmodernizmo kontekste (A Jurgutienė), aprašo tradicinės konservatyviosios literatūrinės sąmonės pokyčius ir šiuolaikinės prozos linkmes (J. Sprindytė), tiria istorinio romano diskurso kitimą (A. Kalėda). Rinktinėje dėmesys taip pat skiriamas R. Gavelio kūrybai (R. Tamošaitis), biblinės Abraomo ir Izaoko istorijos literatūrinei interpretacijai (L. Mačianskaitė), moterų literatūros aptarimui (S. Daugirdaitė), istorinės atminties analizei (S. Matulevičienė ir E. Baliutytė). Paskutiniai rinktinės straipsniai analizuoja lietuvių poeziją.

ENThe collection of articles discussed in the review presents a critical reflection of the socio-cultural environment in Lithuania after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The collection’s 16 articles reflect the multi-faceted approach to quantitative, conceptual and structural changes within various literary genres; it is revealed that the communist past offers fruitful access to the study of post-1990 Lithuanian literature and its evolution. There is a noticeable desire to acquaint non-Lithuanian speakers with the historical and socio-cultural context that is put forth so coherently in the book, avoiding redundancy. The author of the review would have liked to have seen a more detailed discussion of Lithuanian postmodernism and the theoretical basis of its modulations, as well as a broader analysis of the influence of Western postmodernism on Lithuanian literature. Despite the intentions of Mindaugas Kvietkauskas, who compiled the collection, the authors of the articles were slow in using postmodern research methodology –the reviewer feels that Dalia Satkauskytė did the best job of revealing the reasons for this tendency in her article. Other authors of the collection analyse the writing of Lithuanian literary history in the context of postmodernism (A. Jurgutienė), describe changes in traditional conservative literary consciousness and directions of modern prose (J. Sprindytė), and examine the change in historical novel discourse (A. Kalėda). In the collection, attention is also given to Ričardas Gavelis’ work (R. Tamošaitis), literary interpretation of the biblical story of Abraham and Isaac (L. Mačianskaitė), a discussion of women’s literature (S. Daugirdaitė), and an analysis of historical memory (S. Matulevičienė and E. Baliutytė). Lithuanian poetry is analysed in the last articles of the collection.
