Research on the history of Lithuania at Vilnius university in the early nineteenth century

LTStraipsnyje analizuojama, kaip Lietuvos istorijos tyrimai klostėsi Vilniaus universitete 1801–1830 metais, iki Vilniaus universiteto uždarymo, kas lėmė domėjimąsi Lietuvos praeitimi. Pabrėžiama, jog XIX a. pradžioje Vilniaus universitetas Rusijos imperijoje buvo mokslo, švietimo ir kultūros centras. Aptariamu laikotarpiu istorija universitete susiformavo, kaip mokslo disciplina, intelektualus ypač domino Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikšystės tyrimai. Taigi universitetas suvaidino didelį vaidmenį modernios istoriografijos gimimui Lenkijoje, Lietuvoje ir Baltarusijoje. Straipsnyje dėmesys sutelkiamas į istorijos tyrimus Lietuvoje. Joachimas Lelewelis, Ignacius Onacewiczius, Antonis Hlebowiczius, Ignacius Daniłowiczius ir kiti mokslininkai padėjo pagrindus istorijos ir teisės istorijos tyrimams. Taip pat pabrėžiama išorės įtaka Lietuvos istorijos tyrimams Vilniaus universitete. Domėjimasis Lietuvos istorine praeitimi Vilniaus universitete ir aplink jį išaugo iš teisės istorijos, etnologijos ir kalbotyros. Griežtai tik istoriniai tyrimai pasirodė šiek tiek vėliau. Svarbu pabrėžti, jog domėjimąsi Lietuvos istorija lėmė skirtingų mokslo sričių susijungimas, todėl ir rezultatais dalinosi skirtingų sričių mokslininkai. Lietuvos istorijos tyrimai nebuvo izoliuoti Vilniaus universitete, jiems įtaką darė kitos mokslo institucijos ir tyrimų veiklos Lenkijoje, Rusijoje, Vokietijoje (kartu su Prūsija).

ENThe article analyses how the research of the Lithuanian history developed at Vilnius University in the years 1801-1830, before the closure of the university, which led to an interest in the past of Lithuania. It is emphasised that in the beginning of the 19th century, Vilnius University was the centre of science, education and culture in the Russian Empire. During the discussed period the history at the university was shaped as a science discipline and the intellectuals were particularly interested by the research of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Therefore, the university played a major role for the birth of modern historiography in Poland, Lithuania and Belarus. The article focuses on the historical research in Lithuania. Joachim Lelewel, Ignatius Onacewicz, Antoni Hlebowicz, Ignatius Danilowicz and other scientists contributed to the fundamentals of the history and the history of law research. The external influence on the Lithuanian history research at Vilnius University is also emphasized. The interest in Lithuania's historical past at the Vilnius University and around it has grown from the history of law, ethnology and linguistics. Strictly only historical research turned out a little bit later. It is important to emphasise that the interest in the history of Lithuania was determined by the merge of different fields of science, therefore, the results were shared by the researchers from different fields. The research of the Lithuanian history was not been isolated at Vilnius University, it was influenced by other academic institutions and research activities in Poland, Russia, Germany (Prussia).
