Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnyje rašoma apie LDK didikų giminę – Dorohostaiskius, aktyviai veikusius XVI a. antrojoje pusėje – XVII a. pradžioje. Analizuojamos Dorohostaiskių giminės bendravimo, pasitikėjimo aplinka, kuri turėjo įtakos jų veiklai LDK bei suteikė galimybę užimti valstybines pareigas, kilti karjeros laiptais. Dorohostaiskiai buvo susigiminiavę su žymiausiomis XVI a. antrosios pusės – XVII a. pradžios LDK giminėmis – Radvilomis, Chodkevičiais, Sapiegomis, Triznamais, Firlėjais, Podbereskais bei Vainomis.

ENDorohostaiskis family, noblemen of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, were the most active in the second half of the 16t h century up to the beginning of the 17t h century. The most famous representatives of the family were Mikalojus Monvydas Dorohostaiskis and his son Kristupas Monvydas Dorohostaiskis. The article describes social circles to which the Dorohostaiskis family belonged and which they trusted. Several types of such circles can be identified: a circle of like-minded people who shared the same political beliefs and had similar views regarding the issues of the State; a circle of people bound by the relationships of economic benefit; the closest circle of noblemen who adhered to the same religion; a circle o f people tied by marital relationships and a circle of people brought together by artistic interests. As various sources indicate, members of the Dorohostaiskis family mixed with the families of Radvila, Naruševičius, Kiška, Sapiega, Zenovičius and others. Trying to help the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, they sought to unite against the gentry of Poland. The Dorohostaiskis family stood shoulder to shoulder with the families of Radvila, Sapiega, Chodkevičius, Potockis and others in military campaigns. Also, there was a religion-based community. During the spread of the Reformation, the Dorohostaiskis family became Calvinists. Therefore, it is not surprising that they communicated with such supporters of the Reformation as the Radvila, Vaina, Valavičius, Zaviša, Hlebavičius families and others. The Dorohos- taiskis family extended their influence through their relatives or pursued the so-called policy of marriage. In this way, they became related to the most eminent families of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania - those of Radvila, Chodkevičius, Sapiega, Triznamas, Firlėjus, Podbereska and Vaina.
