LTPublikacijoje pateikiami vokiečių kalba parašyti istorijos šaltiniai, tiksliau – tik jų fragmentai, atspindintys tuometines realijas ir kasdieninį gyvenimą 1940–1945 m. Šiaurės Rytų Prūsijoje, vokiečių ir lietuvių gyvenamose teritorijose: Klaipėdos, Šilutės, Ragainės-Tilžės, Pilkalnio, Gumbinės, Įsrūčio, Stalupėnų. Matosi einamųjų reikalų padėtis tose vietovėse, nors lietuviai specialiai ten dažniausiai nėra minimi. Dauguma šaltinių, pakliuvusių iš archyvinių bylų, parinkti iš Ch. Tilitzki knygos „Alltag in Ostpreußen 1940-1945. Die geheimen Lageberichte der Königsberger Justiz 1940-1945“. Taip pat panaudoti kelių asmenų (Alexander Fürst zu Dohna; R. M. Wagner ir H. U. Stamm) publikuoti atsiminimai, o taip pat vieno asmens (Graf von Lehndorff Hans) publikuotas dienoraštis. Gale pateikiama pora faksimilinių nacių Klaipėdoje leisto laikraščio „Memelwacht“ puslapių atvaizdų. Autorinių komentarų beveik nėra, publikacijos autorius pradžioje pateikia tik 9 įvadines apibendrinamojo pobūdžio pastabas. Tarp jų pažymėtinos šios: karo metais Rytų Prūsijoje labai pasikeitė demografinė situacija – nelikus kaime vokiečių darbingų vyrų buvo atvežti darbams prievarta paimti vyrai užsieniečiai ir karo belaisviai; karo pabaigoje Vermachtui traukiantis nuo Raudonosios armijos puolimo, vokiečių kariniai daliniai Rytų Prūsijoje patys daug naikino civilių gyventojų turto, plėšikavo. Šaltinių parinkimo ir publikavimo svarba argumentuojama siekiu parodyti kasdieninį gyvenimą Rytų Prūsijoje visapusiškai, o ne vien per Vokietijos prarastųjų rytinių žemių nostalgijos prizmę.
ENThe publication presents the sources written in German, accurately – just their fragments, which reflect the realities of that time and everyday life in 1940-1945 Northeast Prussia, in territories of and Lithuanians: Klaipėda, Šilutė, Raigainė-Tilžė, Pilkalnis, Bumbinė, Įsrūtis, Stalupėnai. The situation of current affairs appears in these locations, although Lithuanians are not specifically mentioned there. Most of the sources, which are found in the archive files, are chosen from the book „Alltag in Ostpreußen 1940-1945. Die geheimen Lageberichte der Königsberger Justiz 1940-1945“. Also, some of the published memories of a few persons (Alexander Fürst zu Dohna; R. M. Wagner and H. U. Stamm) and one published diary by Graf von Lehndorff Hans are used. In the end, a few images from facsimile pages of the newspaper „Memelwacht“, which was published by Nazis in Klaipėda, is introduced. There are almost no commentaries by the author. The author of the publication suggests only 9 introductory summarising notes in the beginning. Among them, the emphasized ones are: on the time of the war in the Eastern Prussia, the demographic situation extremely changed – when there was no workable German men left in the countryside, foreigner men and war prisoners were captured and brought to work; at the end of the war, when the Wehrmacht retreated from the attack of the Red Army, German military units destroyed a lot of property of civilians, looted. The significance of the selection and publication of the sources is reasoned by the aim to comprehensively show everyday life in the Eastern Prussia, not only the prism of nostalgia of the lost eastern lands of Germans.
