Summary / Abstract:

ENPositive university's image becomes actual in the rivalry, because of the students can freely choose the university in which they would like to study. Good image determines and creates good and reliable reputation, attracts and holds the entrants, the students, and the employees. The goal of the paper is to reveal the main opinions about the image of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Šiauliai University on the grounds of the done empirical research data. Various specialists of strategic administration, management, marketing, organizations, psychology, graphic design, and communication present different definitions of image. This concept was firstly used in the sphere of graphic design; though, analyzing the conception of the term according to the methodological sources, it is possible to state that this conception came from functional and social psychology. With reference to the done empiric research, it is possible to draw the following conclusions: 71 percent of students depend on their own opinion while choosing the higher school. The appreciations of former students influence 43 percent of students.It is possible to state that the appreciations of former students about the Faculty of Social Sciences were positive, as they actually influenced the choice of 43 percent of students to choose Šiauliai University as the scholastic institution. The main factors that make the biggest influence on the internal and external image of the Faculty of Social Sciences were distinguished: the communication between the lecturers and students, the communication beUveen the lecturers themselves, the communication between the students themselves, etc. The image of the Faculty of Social Sciences can not be created for perpetuity; it is dynamic and changes under the occurring in the organization and society circumstances. The efforts to create the image of the Faculty of Social Sciences should be primarily oriented to the students and their parents.
