The Position of the banking sector on the introduction of Euro
LTLietuvai 2002 m. vasarį savo nacionalinę valiutą litą susiejus su euru, o 2004 m. gegužės 1 d. tapus Europos Sąjungos nare, tikslinga siekti tolesnio žingsnio - sąsajų su Europos Sąjunga stiprinimo, įvedant eurą. Euro įvedimo šalininkai akcentuoja įvairius bendros valiutos privalumus, susijusius su palankesnėmis verslo vykdymo sąlygomis ir valiutų rizikos išnykimu, verslą vykdant Europos Sąjungoje. Tačiau bendros valiutos įvedimo oponentai pateikia ir neigiamus euro įvedimo aspektus, kurie pagrįsti kitų Europos Sąjungos narių patirtimi ir teorinėmis prielaidomis. Vertinant euro įvedimo pasekmes, svarbu atsižvelgti į Lietuvos bankininkystės sektoriaus atstovų poziciją šiuo klausimu, kadangi euro įvedimas visų pirma paveiks šalies finansų sektorių.
ENAfter relating the national currency litas to euro in February 2002 and entering the European Union on 1 May 2004 Lithuania should make a step forward, i.e. strengthen its relations with the European Union in the introduction of Euro. The supporters of the introduction of Euro emphasize different advantages of common currency related to more favourable conditions for business and the disappearance of currency differences while doing business in the European Union. However, the opponents of the introduction of common currency point out the disadvantages of the introduction of euro based on the experience of other European Union member states and theoretical assumptions. In evaluating the effects of the introduction of euro it is necessary to consider the position of the representatives of the Lithuanian banking sector on this issue, because the introduction of euro will first of all affect the country's financial sector.
