LTRecenzijoje analizuojama Domo Kauno ir Audronės Matijošienės knyga „Auszros“ archyvas. Martyno Jankaus rinkinys“. Pabrėžiama, kad knygoje pateiktas laiškų ir kitų tekstų perrašas yra svarbus to meto lietuvių kalbos vartojimo ir idėjų dėl bendros rašomosios lietuvių kalbos liudytojas. Čia randame naujos informacijos apie žinomus kultūros, literatūros veikėjus; leidinyje pateikiama duomenų apie atskirų „Auszros“ ir „Garso“ tekstų recepciją, liudijimų apie skaitančios auditorijos norus, pageidavimus. Knygos vertė išauga ne tik dėl netikėtai surasto archyvo viešinimo, bet ir dėl tekstų parengimo būdo. Publikuojant archyvuose saugomus tekstus diplomatiniu būdu, didėja jų prieinamumo galimybės tyrėjams. Pasirinktas publikavimo būdas – perrašas – geriausiai tinka tokios vertės ir fizinės būklės rankraščiams. Tačiau recenzijos autorė atkreipia dėmesį į rimtas klaidas, padarytas perrašant tekstus, pasigenda tokio pobūdžio publikacijoms būtinų dialektologijos, bendrinės kalbos istorijos žinių. Apibendrindama išsakytas mintis recenzijos autorė teigia, kad knyga gerokai papildo iki šiol plačiajam skaitytojui buvusius prieinamus, su „Auszros“ laikotarpiu susijusius tekstus, pateikia nemažai kultūros ir raštijos istorijai svarbių faktų, tačiau kalbininkai kalbos istorijos, dialektologijos tyrimams šia knyga be originalų pasinaudoti negalės. Dėl to ypač gaila, nes leidinys būtų labai pravertęs antrosios XIX amžiaus pusės asmeninės lietuvių rašomosios kalbos tyrimams.

ENThe review analyses the book “Auszros” Archyvas. Martyno Jankaus Rinkinys” (“Auszra Archives. Martynas Jankus’ Collection”) by Domas Kaunas and Audronė Matijošienė. It is emphasized that the transcripts of letters and other texts presented in the book are and important testimony to the then use of the Lithuanian language and ideas of general written Lithuanian. Here we find new information on known figures of culture and literature; the publication presents the data on reception of individual texts of Auszra (‘Dawn’) and Garsas (‘Sound’), testimonies on the requests and preferences of the readers. The value of the book is even higher not only due to the publication of an unexpectedly found archive, but also because of the method of text preparation. Publishing the texts stored in the archives in a diplomatic way makes them more available to researchers. The selected method of publication – transcript – is most suitable for the manuscripts of such value and physical condition. However, the author of the review points out serious errors made when transcribing the texts and a lack of knowledge of dialectology and standard language history necessary to such publications. When summarizing the expressed thoughts, the author of the review states that the book is a substantial contribution to the texts related to Auszra period and available to the general audience, it presents many facts important to the history of culture and literature; however, the linguists will not be able to use this book without the original text for historical and dialectological studies. This is especially disappointing, because the publication would have been very useful for the studies of personal written Lithuanian of the second half of the 19th century.
