ENThis paper discusses the stringed Lithuanian folk instrument kanklės that was popular in the ethnographic territories of Samogitia. On considering the kanklės, the use was made of A. Apanavičius’ classification of the Lithuanian kanklės, supplementing it with the kanklės of the East Aukštaičiai from Veliuona. Mention is made of the works of the more famous masters of Samogitia.
