LTPublikacijoje aptariama Laimos Anglickienės knyga „Kitataučių įvaizdis lietuvių folklore“ (2006). Recenzijoje teigiama, kad nacionalumo trajektorijos folkloro platybėse brėžia ypatingą kitoniškumo perspektyvą. Kito vertinimai ne visuomet išsaugo tolerancijos ir supratimo dvasią, išvengia trivialumų ir dviprasmybių. Stereotipų apibrėžimai kuria ir šiuolaikiškumo prerogatyvas. Knygoje pastebimos aktualios ir tautosakiniams tekstams taikomos atrankos nuostatos. Imponuoja nuosekli tautosakos lobyno peržvalga. Studijoje ryški laiko ir erdvės perspektyva, platus lietuvių religinis ir kultūrinis kontekstas, gausi mokslinė literatūra. Ši knyga – tai aktuali kitatautiškumo reprezentacija ir geras pavyzdys sugestyvaus požiūrio į tradicinių trafaretų lemiamą folkloro fenomeną.

ENThe publication discusses the book The Image of People of Other Regions in the Lithuanian Folklore (2006) by Laima Anglickienė. The review maintains that the trajectories of nationality in the vastness of folklore draw a special perspective of otherness. The evaluations performed by another person do not always secure the spirit of tolerance and understanding or avoid trivialities and ambiguities. While developing the aspects of otherness in the traditional Lithuanian culture, the book covers the period of the end of the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth century. Strangers in the Lithuanian folklore are viewed regardless of genre requirements and not dissociating from the custom stories and with no scruple as far as historic and cultural parallels are concerned. The stereotypes of strangers represented in the traditional Lithuanian culture possess a feel of foreignness in the first place. The image of foreigners is essentially negative in the folklore of any nation and more seldom possesses a neutral shade. A chart of foreignness hierarchy is constructed in the study and the reasons for popularity are defined. The advantages of this work are polivalentic attitude and the variety of evaluations. The definitions of stereotypes establish the prerogatives of modernness, too. Relevant selection attitudes applied in folklore texts are observed in the book. A consistent review of the folklore treasure appeals to the reader. The study contains a clear perspective of time and space, a wide context of the Lithuanian religion and culture as well as numerous items of scientific literature. The book is a relevant representation of foreignness and a good example of suggestive attitude towards the folklore phenomenon determined by traditional patterns.
