Maironio estetikos antropologiškumas, arba pelikanai kruvinomis krūtinėmis
Alternative Title:
Antropological outline of the aesthetics of Maironis
Summary / Abstract:

ENWith reference to both Maironis' textbook “Visuotinės literatūros istorija” (History of General Literature, 1926) and his poetry his concept of creation is being discussed, which reveals an obvious presence of historicism, a notion of idealistic beauty, anthropologism and Catholic moralization. Maironis was a follower of the romantic reasoning of F. Schiller and P.B. Shelly that creation was the most significant arsenal of man's spiritual wealth as well as the greatest improver of mankind. Maironis maintained an anthropological attitude towards creation and emphasized its links with the dispersion of human nature. The evaluation criteria of Maironis are somewhat exaggeratedly interlaced with the personality of the creator thus implementing the image of bleeding breast of creator – pelican. The article discusses the anthropological statements of Maironis' aesthetical reasoning and indicates their relationship with the aesthetical context of the 19th century (Goethe's tradition).
