LTRecenzijoje aptariamas Rimanto Marčėno istorinis romanas „Karūnos spindesio apakinti“. Pažymima, kad romano vinis - XIII a. peripetijos: Lietuvos vizijų sankirtos, kunigaikščiai, kovos, pagonybės epochos koloritas, pilys, mūšiai, skirtingų religijų santykis, pasaulėvokų susidūrimai vienos istorinės epochos arenoje ir, kiek netikėtai, įdėmus žvilgsnis ankstyvąjį Lietuvos Kunigaikštystės formavimosi laikotarpį. Teigiama, kad romanas kuriamas kaip savotiška žaismė, kur už kiekvieno realaus istorinio įvykio slypi begalės priežasčių-pasekmių variantų, kur istoriją gali pasukti ne tik pragmatiškos užmačios, tarptautinė situacija, bet ir antraplanės figūros su savo aistromis, niekšybėmis ir tikslais. Istorija pagaliau sužmoginama, ji iš neužmatomų romantinių mitų aukštybių ir amžių gilybių nusileidžia ant žemės. Autorius į griežtoką romano struktūrą gan darniai supina daugybę įvykių: vietines Lietuvos aktualijas, kaimyninių kraštų įvykius, intriguojančias meilės istorijas bei vidinius Livonijos riterio ordino užkulisius. Pažymima, kad taikliai ir saikingai įterpiamos mūšių ar medžioklių scenos. Laikotarpio koloritas perteikiamas tiek realizuojant daugiaplanio teksto, meninio žodžio galias, tiek ir laikantis specifini žanro bruožų. Nors romano autorius taip pat ir mokslininkas, tekstas išvengė sausumo, nors intelektualinio žongliravimo jame taip pat nėra. Recenzentė reziumuoja, kad ši knyga skirta geidžiantiems kokybiškos istorinės beletristikos, o ne narciziškos odės teorijų galioms.
ENThe review discusses the historical novel “Karūnos spindesio apakinti” [Blinded by the Shine of the Crown] by Rimantas Marčėnas. The focus of the novel is the 13th c. peripaetia: intersections of Lithuanian visions, dukes, fights, the colour of the Pagan epoch, castles, battles, the relationship of different religions, clashes of world-views on the stage of one historical epoch and, a bit unexpected intent look at the early period of the formation of the Duchy of Lithuania. The novel was created as kind of play, in which each real historical event hides a dozen of cause-consequence variants, where history can be turned not only by pragmatic scheme, international situation, but also by secondary figures with their passions, villainy and aims. History is finally humanized; it is set on the ground from the heights of romantic myths and the depths of centuries. The author harmoniously interweaves many events in a rather strict structure of the novel: local topicalities of Lithuania, the events of neighbouring countries, intriguing love stories and the backstage of the Livonian Order. The scenes of battles or hunting are inserted accurately and moderately. The colour of the period is conveyed both through realisation of the powers of a multi-dimensional text and artistic word and keeping to the specific features of the genre. Although the author is also a scientist, the text is neither dry nor contains intellectual jugglery. The reviewer resumes that this book is targeted at those who require qualitative historical fiction, rather than a narcissist ode to the powers of theories.
