Livonijos monetų spaudai Vilniaus Žemutinėje pilyje

LT1988-1989 m. tyrinėjant Vilniaus žemutinės pilies rūmus buvo rasti aštuoni monetų spaudai. Septyni spaudai rasti 1988 m. Žemutinės pilies rūmų pietryčių kampo vadinamajame C rūsyje. Čia rasta ir daugiau geležinių daiktų: dantytas strypas, sukapotos geležinės juostelės gabalų, daugybė sudegusių vinių. Aštuntasis monetų spaudas rastas 1989 m. greta minėto C rūsio, pietinio korpuso D rūsyje. Iš rastų aštuonių monetų spaudų penki – viršutiniai ir trys apatiniai. Spaudai paveikti korozijos, jų būklė bloga. Nuvalytų monetų spauduose, kurių apatinio galo skersmuo yra 1.8 cm, matoma: humanistinių grafemų grupės – „LIVO“ ir „HAR“, būdingos Livonijos ordino magistro Ketlerio (1559-1561) su Rygos miestu bendrai kaltiems šilingams bei ant Rygos arkivyskupo Vilhelmo (1539-1563) ir Gotardo Ketlerio bendrai kaldintų šilingų. Taip pat gerai matomi įrašą kertantys kryžiaus galai. Sprendžiant iš spaudų skersmens, trys iš jų ir naudoti šilingams kalti, o apatiniai spaudai, kurių galo skersmuo 3 cm, matyt, naudoti pusmarkėms kalti. Spaudas, kurio galo skersmuo 2,4 cm, naudotas ferdingui kalti. Spėjama, kad aprašyti spaudai į Vilnių pateko iš Rygos kalyklos. Jie susiję su „Pasidavimo aktu“, kurį 1561 m. lapkričio 28 d. pasirašė Lietuvos Didžioji Kunigaikštystė ir Livonijos ordinas, taip pat su Livonijos ordino valdų, Rygos pilies ir miesto raktų perdavimu M. Radvilai.

ENEight dies were found during archeological digs at the Lower Castle in Vilnius in 1988-1989. Seven of them were discovered in 1988 in basement C of the palace's southeastern corner on the sunken ground floor. Several iron objects were found together with the dies. They included pieces of a toothed pinot, bandlike pieces of iron, and a great number of burned nails. The eighth die was discovered in 1989 in basement D of the southern building near basement C. Five of the eight are the upper dies, the remaining three are the lower dies. All of them have been much affected by corrosion and are in a poor state of preservation. On the cleaned dies, the diameter of which is 1.8 cm at their lower points, a number of things are visible: the groups of Roman letters, "LIVO" and "HAR", characteristic of the shillings struck by the Master of the Livonian Order, Gotthard Kettler (1559-1561) together with the Riga town as well as of the shillings struck by Riga's archibishop Wilhelm von Brandenburg (1539-1563) together with Gotthard Kettler can be seen. The ends of the cross intersecting the inscription are also visible. The diameters of the dies indicate that three of them were used to strike shillings, while the others (3 cm in diameter) were used to strike half-marks. The die with a diameter of 2.4 cm may have been used to strike ferdings. The dies are thought to have come to Vilnius from the mint of Riga. They are connected with the "Pacta conventa" signed by the Grand Duke of Lithuania and the Livonian Order on 28 November 1561, as well as with the handing-over of the Livonian possessions, the Riga Castle, and the town's keys to M. Radvila.
