Šeima tarpukario Lietuvoje: Polovinskai

LTStraipsnyje bandoma atskleisti istorinį šeimos vaidmenį 1918–1940 m. Lietuvoje, pasiremiant anuomet palyginti įtakingos Polovinskų šeimos pavyzdžiu. Atskeidžiama Polovinskų giminės geneologija nuo XIX a., kiekvieno jo nario gyvenimo peripetijos, ryšiai su gimine, pagalba sunkiais gyvenimo momentais. Parodoma, kad tik paskutinysis nepriklausomos Lietuvos dešimtmetis buvo sąlyginės ramybės periodas visai Polovinskų giminei, nes kartu su valstybe šeimos gyvenimas tarytum stabilizavosi, įgijo aiškų kasdienišką ritmą, kuris visais laikais kurdavo ir tebekuria žmonėms niekuo nepagrįstą saugumo ir amžinos žemiškos palaimos iliuziją. Teigiama, kad nepametę vienas kito XX a. pradžios Rusijoje, Polovinskai nesunkiai palaikė ryšius ir emigravę į JAV. Todėl autoriaus nuomone, nereikėtų stebėtis, kad Polovinskai kartu su kitomis šeimomis ir giminėmis pradėjo naują egzilio Lietuvos etapą, XIX a. romantinę svajonę išsaugodami ir pritaikydami kitam amžiui, tuo dar kartą įrodydami, kad geba kiekvieną pabaigą paversti pradžia. Teigiama, kad Polovinskų istorijoje svarbiausia tai, jog ji leidžia iš ne visai įprastos perspektyvos pažvelgti į šeimos vietą visuomenėje. Giliai įsišaknijęs paprotys rūpintis kraujo giminaičiais ir svainiais, ko gero, yra tvirtesnis ir natūralesnis negu dažnai gerokai dirbtinis viešų ir privačių interesų atskyrimo principas. Todėl daroma išdava, kad „švogerių kraštas“ yra tikroji Lietuvos prigimtis, kurią verčiau įsisąmoninti negu neigti, o Lietuvos sudėtingoje ir nepastovioje geopolitinėje situacijoje tai gali būti didelė stiprybė.

ENThe article attempts to reveal the historical role of family in Lithuania in 1918–1940 based on the example of the then influential Polovinskas family. The genealogy of the Polovinskas family since the 19th c. as well as the twists in life of each of its member, his relations with relatives and support provided in times of difficulties are revealed. The author demonstrates that the last decade of the independent Lithuania was a relatively calm period for the whole of the Polovinskas family, since the life of the family stabilised together with the life of the whole state. It is also claimed in the article that members of these family did not lose each other at the beginning of the 20th c. in Russia and maintained relations when living in the USA. Therefore, the author believes that one should not be surprised that the Polovinskas family together with other families and relatives started a new stage in the history of the Lithuanian exile by preserving the romantic hope of the 19th. c. in the new century thus demonstrating their ability to turn every end into a beginning. The author claims that the most important fact in the history of the Polovinskas family is that they enable to consider the role of family in society from a not very simple perspective. The deeply rooted habit to take care of blood relatives is much firmer and much more natural than the rather superficial principle of separation of private and public interests. Therefore, the author concludes that "the land of brothers-in law" is in the nature of Lithuania, which is better to perceive rather than deny and which can be a great strength in Lithuania's complicated and unstable geological situation.
