LTA. Lipphardt knygoje „Vilne: Die Juden aus Vilnius nach dem Holocaust. Eine transnationale Beziehungsgeschichte“ (2010) nagrinėja kolektyvinę traumą – holokaustą – pergyvenusių Vilniaus žydų atminties, gedėjimo ir įamžinimo kultūrą. Iš 57 tūkst. žydų, gyvenusių Vilniuje prieš 1941 m. vokiečių invaziją, po karo gyvi liko vos 3,5–5 tūkst. asmenų. Vilniaus žydai pasklido po pasaulį, tapdami diaspora diasporoje – transnacionaline Vilniaus žydų bendruomene su savitu, unikaliu atminties lauku. Ši knyga pasakoja apie transnacionalinę žydų diasporą visame pasaulyje, vienijamą kolektyvinės tapatybės ir Vilniaus kaip gimtinės provaizdžio. Knygoje atskleidžiami Vilniaus žydų bendruomenės atminties kultūros lauko pokyčiai. A. Lipphardt aprašo ir analizuoja kasdienį Vilniaus žydų gyvenimą grindžiančius sociokultūrinius saitus, jų sukurtus ir palaikomus ryšių tinklus. ENAnna Lipphardt’s book entitled Vilne: Die Juden aus Vilnius nach dem Holocaust. Eine transnationale Beziehungsgeschichte (2010) examines the culture of memory, mourning, and perpetuation of the Vilnius Jews who survived the the collective trauma of the Holocaust. Of the 57,000 Jews living in Vilnius before the 1941 German invasion, only 3,500-5,000 were still alive after the war. Vilnius Jews dispersed around the world, becoming a diaspora within a diaspora - a transnational Vilnius Jewish community with its own, unique field of memory. This book tells the story of the transnational Jewish diaspora around the world, united by a collective identity and the archetype of Vilnius as the native land. Changes in the field of cultural memory of the Vilnius Jewish community are revealed in the book. Lipphardt describes and analyses the socio-cultural ties that served as the basis for the everyday life of Vilnius Jews, as well as the communication networks they created and maintained. She reveals how the Jewish community’s communication networks and collective memory are based on collective cultural practices. This community refused to be erased from history, fostering the values of Vilnius - its old hometown, and looking for harmony between their "old" (of that time) and "new" (current) homes. The analytical approach chosen by the author of the book allows for the culture of mourning and memory to be perceived as a complex and dynamic transnational phenomenon that unites Vilnius Holocaust survivors living in various areas of the world. This book is a successful combination of Jewish history, migration and cultural memory studies that further opens the door to the complicated world of Eastern European Jews.
