ENUntil now there has been no attention of rhythm applied to investigate music of Faustas Latėnas although it is gaining its popularity. For a long time the author's creative works have seemed not to go into the framework of existing analytical methods. The theories of postmodernism appeared to be favourable for the said. The article presents the author's creative works and reveals the essential integral parts of his stylistics. The correlation of the author's attitude and style is demonstrated. A pronounced alienation from modernism and the features of postmodernism prevailing in his music (one of the most vivid ones is irony) are discussed. The scientific work discloses the stylistic unity with manifestations of similar stylistics in Lithuanian art and literature and presents the author's position among new romantics. The author does not seek to create an artificially complicated musical language, and this allows him to be free and uncover unexpected phenomena. Balancing between academic and popular art, the composer incorporates atypical elements into the domain of true art. The influence of theatre on F. Latėnas' style formation and his music quality is analysed. The origin of some of his creative ideas is associated with theatre. A highlighted social trend of creative works is presented; the means of communication with a listener, the relations with trauma experienced nations, with national mentality as well as with breaks in life traditions are discussed. It is proved by both his and his colleagues' expressed ides.By exploiting simple intonations and a certain "unclear" harmony the author exhibits skilfully the idea of human vulnerability. The research accentuates the importance of dance as a hallmark of this author's creative works and presents his vivid predilection for Latin American dance that helps him to express both a carnival delight and a flight of freedom. The emotion expressed by music is very important to the composer. Some works highlight the influence of jazz improvisation. Being an excellent creator of a situation and a speaker of human emotions, the author leaves no doubt neither for performers nor listeners. The attitude of F. Latėnas towards minimalism technique is revealed. The perception of F. Latėnas' creative works of several decades shows that his creation is not a marginal phenomenon.
