Lietuviškos knygos priešaušris

LTPrieš pasirodant pirmosioms spausdintoms lietuviškoms knygoms buvo rankraštinė raštija. Jos išliko tik nuotrupos, įrašytos spausdintose lotyniškose knygose. Visi įrašytojai kilę iš Vilniaus krašto. Rašyba primena lotynišką, o ne lenkišką ortografiją. Raštas į Lietuvą atėjo kartu su krikščionybe, kuomet vienuoliai pranciškonai Mindaugo laikais išvertė iš vokiečių (ne lenkų) kalbos į lietuvių kalbą žegnonę, poterius, gal ir kitas maldas.

ENThe article discusses Old Lithuanian inscriptions before printed books. Attention is paid to the written language of manuscripts, the language which existed in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania before the appearance of the first printed books. The Authors of the manuscripts were Franciscan monks descended from the rural district of Vilnius. Writing came to Lithuania with Christianity. Prayers were translated into the Lithuanian language at the time of King Mindaugas (in the middle of the 13th century). Even then one could not do without writing.
