Gotikinės estetikos specifika Jolitos Skablauskaitės romanuose

LTStraipsnyje nagrinėjama Jolitos Skablauskaitės kūryba (šeši romanai) iki šiol jai netaikytu gotikinės estetikos aspektu. Šiuolaikiniam gotikiniam romanui, kaip ir klasikiniam (XVIII a. pabaigos), būdinga tai, kas barbariška, nenatūralu, pabaisiška, nuodėminga, iracionalu, chaotiška, tabuizuota. Ieškoma fantasmagoriškos vaizduotės suklestėjimo priežasčių, aptariami specifiniai rašytojos goticizmo bruožai – saviti erdvėlaikio parametrai, antžmogiškų būtybių kilmė, moterų personažų tipologija (dieviškos silfidės ir žemiškos driežės), kontroversiškas šeimos vaidmens traktavimas, naujoviška meilės, sekso, kūrybos, mirties motyvų interpretacija. Daroma išvada, kad Skablauskaitė – nepralenkta chtoniškosios vaizduotės ir goticizmo reprezentantė lietuvių literatūroje. ENThe Gothic novel, which was a typical genre of English literature in the second half of the eighteenth century, had eventually been marginalized, but its tradition has been revived in the creative work of contemporary women writers (for instance, in Angela Carter’s novels or post-Soviet Russian literature). Gothic aesthetics is linked to the chthonic imagination the forms which are characterised by what is barbaric, unnatural, monstrous, sinful, irrational, chaotic and tabooed. In contemporary Lithuanian literature, Gothic aesthetics is represented originally by Jolita Skablauskaitė’s novels and short stories. In her novels Mėnesienos skalikas (The Moonlight Hound), Kitas kraujas (Other Blood), Septyniadangė erdvė (The Space of Seven Skies), Brudenis, Sado sindromas (De Sade’s Syndrome) the writer treats shock therapy and horror as an experience of aesthetic pleasure, and although the world she has create d is swarming with distorted grotesque forms, it coexists with magic, esoteric, and a secret pointing to the mystery of existence. She emphasises the volatility of the boundary separating the living and the dead. Her infernal characters serve as an opportunity for taming death; women are depicted as elemental and fatalistic beings rooted in nature and rejecting the norms of civilised life that are seen as sources of banality and evil. The forms of Gothic aesthetics offer Skablauskaitė the opportunity to express the content of a rich imagination and to escape from her inner nightmares. [From the publication]
