LTStraipsnyje aptariama nagrinėjamo regiono katalikų bažnyčių raida ir religinė praktika XV-XVIII a. Nagrinėjami pirmieji steigėjai, parapinio tinklo plėtra, regiono priklausomybė dekanatams, Varnių mūrinės Katedros įtaka regiono bažnyčių architektūrai, brolijų steigimas, stebuklingi paveikslai. Straipsnyje apibendrinama nagrinėjamo regiono bažnyčių padėtis, tačiau kartu lyginama su simptomiškais viso LDK regiono katalikų bažnyčių reiškiniais. Žvilgsnis į nagrinėjamo regiono bažnyčias XV-XVIII a. laikotarpyje atskleidžia iš esmės visai Žemaitijai, o dažnai ir visai LDK simptomiškus tiek meno, tiek religinės praktikos reiškinius. ENThe article discusses the development and religious practices of the region of Samogitia in the 15th – 18th centuries. A great deal of attention is paid to first parish founders, the development of the network of parishes, deaneries of the region, the impact of the Varniai Cathedral on the church architecture of the region, the establishment of brotherhoods, and wonderful paintings. Most important information about churches established in the region in the 15th – 18th centuries is presented at the end of the article. The article also reviews the condition of churches of the region, at the same time comparing it with all church phenomena across the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. An insight into the life of churches of the region in the 15th-18th centuries reveals symptomatic artistic as well as religious practices characteristic of the whole of Samogitia and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. However, there were certain specific characteristics. For example, masonry architecture was a rather “late” phenomenon in the region, whereas the Way of the Cross was the first across the whole Grand Duchy of Lithuania. As it can be seen from the further development of the Samogitian Diocese, the region was significantly important in the early period, however, wider conclusions should still be avoided. The material of the article will most probably help better understand the specifics of the region, whereas reviews may further be compared with the analysis of other regions.
