Legenda o Giedyminie koniuszym w dawnym dziejopisarstwie polskim (do końca XVI w.)
LTTarp legendų, apipynusių senųjų Lietuvos valdovų gyvenimą, išskirtinę vietą užima legendos apie didįjį kunigaikštį Gediminą (apie 1275-1341). Ypač daug jų atsirado XV-XVI a. istoriniuose tekstuose ir buvo susijusios su Gedimino kilme. Straipsnyje aptariami skirtingi Kryžiuočių ordino, lenkų, rusų metraščių bei kronikų duomenys apie Gedimino kilmę ir įsitvirtinimą valdžioje. Daugiausiai dėmesio skiriama lenkų kronikų interpretacijoms, jų kitimui iki atspindžių XIX a. lenkų romantinėje literatūroje. Skirtingas legendas sieja bendras elementas – Gediminas laikomas valdžią užgrobusiu arklininku arba Vytenio arklininku, jį nužudžiusiu ir perėmusiu valdžią. Remiantis lenkų istoriografija, straipsnyje analizuojama, kokie buvo šios „juodosios legendos“ šaltiniai, galimi politiniai užsakovai, kaip ji paplito skirtinguose XV-XVI a. istoriniuose tekstuose. Legenda apie Gediminą–arklininką atsirado Kryžiuočių ordine, dėl politinių paskatų ją perėmė Maskva, o labiausiai išpopuliarino lenkų istorikai. Tik po paskutinio Jogailaičių dinastijos atstovo mirties Gedimino įvaizdis lenkų istoriografijoje ėmė keistis, ikikrikščioniškos Lietuvos istorija ir dinastijos pradininkai imti laikyti savos praeities dalimi. Šis procesas ypač įsibėgėjo romantizmo epochoje. ENLegends about Grand Duke Gediminas (around 1275–1341) occupy an exceptional position among the legends about the life of the ancient rulers of Lithuania. Particularly many legends emerged in the historical texts of the 15th–16th c. and were related to Gediminas’ descent. The paper discusses different data of the Teutonic Order, Polish and Russian manuscripts and chronicles about Gediminas’ descent and the establishment of his authority. Focus is mainly shifted on the interpretations of the Polish chronicles and their change to reflections in the 19th c. Polish romantic literature. Different legends are related by a common element – Gediminas is supposed to have been the stableman who seized power or the stableman of Vytenis, who killed him and took over power. Based on Polish historiography, the paper analyses the sources of this “black legend”, potential political commissioners, and how it spread in different historical texts of the 15th–16th c. The legend about Gediminas-stableman emerged in the Teutonic Order, was taken over by Moscow for political reasons, and was mainly popularised by Polish historians. Only after the death of the last representative of the Jagiellonian dynasty the image of Gediminas started to change in Polish historiography, and the history of pre-Christian Lithuania as well as the progenitors of the dynasty were considered part of own past. The process particularly accelerated in the epoch of Romanticism. Historiography has so far investigated the circumstances of the establishment of Gediminas’ authority.
