ENThe review discusses the book “Matricos nelaisvėje. Sovietmečio lietuvių istoriografija (1944–1985)” [Imprisoned within the Matrix. Soviet Lithuanian Historiography (1944–1985)] by Aurimas Švedas, which is considered the first attempt to systematically discuss the Lithuanian historiography of the Soviet period. The book is based on the PhD thesis and logically and consistently introduces the research “cuisine” of the Soviet Lithuanian history. According to the reviewer, Švedas’s book is one of the more interesting recent phenomena on Lithuanian historiography. The work is worth attention not only from the colleagues who investigate this topic and the Soviet period in general, but also from all specialists of humanities, because it reveals the development of our profession in the epoch that is not very distant from the present in an interesting and qualified manner.
