"Laiminančio Kristaus" prisikėlimas
LTPalangos Tiškevičių parkas nuo pat jo įkūrimo pradžios buvo atviras lankytojams. XX a. pr. jo pagrindiniame parteryje pastatyta „Laiminančio Kristaus“ skulptūra – daugelio pamėgtas parko akcentas. Prie jos lankytojai noriai fotografuodavosi. Nepriklausomos Lietuvos metais buvo išleisti atvirukai su „Laiminančio Kristaus“ atvaizdu. Tiesa, tada ši skulptūra dar neturėjo dabartinio pavadinimo – atvirukai būdavo įvardijami „Kristaus paminklas“ arba „Kristaus stovyla“. Sovietmečiu skulptūra buvo nugriauta. 1993 m. atstatyta. Kyla klausimas – kokia jos istorija? Šį kartą ji – iš pirmųjų lūpų: istoriją pasakoja Vitalius Bernardas Litvaitis, kuris Lietuvos Atgimimo metais iškėlė idėją Palangos parke atstatyti „Laiminančio Kristaus“ skulptūrą ir šią idėją įgyvendino. Galvojama, jog Palangos „Laiminantis Kristus“ vienmetis su trečiąja Palangos Romos katalikų bažnyčia, pastatyta 1907 m., skulptūrą pastatė Palangos grafas Feliksas Tiškevičius (autorius nežinomas). 1952-aiais, bolševikinio vandalizmo siautėjimo metais, valdžios nurodymu „Laiminantį Kristų“ nugriovė ir sunaikino. Nepriklausomos Lietuvos atgimimo laikotarpyje Palangos visuomenė ir miesto vadovybė nutarė atstatyti „Laiminantį Kristų“ iš jos atstatymui paaukotų lėšų. 1990–1993 m. skulptūra ir postamentas buvo padaryti. ENFrom the very foundation, the Park of Tyszkiewicz has been open to visitors. At the beginning of the 20th century the sculpture of Blessing Jesus Christ – a popular accent of the park, was located in the main parterre of the park. Visitors used to take pictures near the sculpture. During the period of Lithuania’s independence, postcards with the image of the sculpture “Blessing Jesus Christ” were published. By the fact, at those times the sculpture did not have its present name. The postcards were named as the “Monument of the Christ” or the “Christ Statue”. The statue was demolished in the Soviet times, and in 1993 it was restored. The question arises – what is its history? This time its history comes from the horse’s mouth: the history is told by Vitalius Bernardas Litvaitis, who, during the time of Lithuania’s Revival, offered an idea to restore the sculpture of the “Blessing Jesus Christ” in the park of Palanga and further fulfilled this idea. The Palanga’s sculpture “The Blessing Jesus Christ” is presumed to have been built in 1907 – the same year the third Roman Catholic Church of Palanga was built. The sculpture was built by Count of Palanga Feliks Tyszkiewich (the author is unknown). In 1952, in the times of Bolshevist vandalism, the statue was demolished pursuant to the order of authorities. During the period of Lithuania’s Revival, residents of Palanga and its authorities decided to reconstruct “The Blessing Christ” from the funds donated for this purpose. In 1990–1993, the sculpture and its base were produced. The author of the sculpture – Stasys Žirgulis. The sculpture was casted in Kaunas Cast Iron Foundry. On 14 June 1993, the Day of Mourning and Hope, the sculpture was uncovered and consecrated.
