LTRecenzija aptaria leidinio „Balto-slavjanskie issledovanija" tomą, skirtą vieno šios serijos įkūrėjų, žymaus indoeuropeisto Viačeslavo Ivanovo septyniasdešimtmečiui. Pažymima kad tik W. Smoczynski'o ir J. F. Lcvino tyrimus sąlygiškai galima pavadinti lituanistiniais. O latvistikai, tiksliau – latgalistikai, skirtas vos vienas recenzuojamo leidinio straipsnis - A. Breidako apžvalga Atkreipiamas dėmesys į tradiciškai stiprų mitologinį leidinio skyrių, pradedamą a. a. N. Vėliaus publikacija, M. Zavjanovos ir V. Toporovo straipsniai, tam tikra prasme jam priklauso ir S. Ryžakovos parašyta E. Usačiovaitės knygos recenzija. Archeologijai skirtas V. Kulakovo straipsnis su iliustracijomis. Teigiama, kad pagal turinį rinkinį būtų galima pavadinti ne „Baltų-slavų tyrinėjimai", o „Baltų, slavų ir baltų-slavų tyrinėjimai", mat S. Nikolajevo, A. Ryko, M. Tolstajos straipsniai liečia slavistikos problemas, o A. Breidako, V.V. Smoczynski'o, J. F. Levino ir N. Vėliaus darbai skirti baltistinei tematikai. L. Kurkinos ir Ž. Varbot tyrimai susiję su slavų kalbine problematika indoeuropiečių fone ir su etimologija. Grynai baltų-slavų santykiams skirti yra tik V. Dybo, M. Zavjalovos ir V Toporovo darbai. Recenzentas pažymi, kad tai ne priekaištas, bet realios padėties atspindys: Rusijoje stipriai jaučiamas baltistų deficitas. Tačiau autorius reziumuoja, kad vilties teikia šalia baltistikos patriarchų V. Ivanovo, V. Toporovo, V. ENThe review discusses the publication “Balto-slavjanskie issledovanija” [Baltic-Slavic Studies] dedicated to the 70th anniversary of prominent Indo-Europeanist Vyacheslav Ivanov, one of the fathers of these series. The reviewer notes that only the research by W. Smoczynski and J. F. Levin might be relatively attributed to Lithuanian studies. Meanwhile, Latvian studies or, to be precise, Latgalian studies, are the focus of a single article included in the publication; it is the overview of A. Breidak. Attention is drawn to a traditionally strong mythological chapter which starts with the publication by the late N. Vėlius, followed by the articles of M. Zavjanova and V. Toporov, and the review of E. Usačiovaitė’s book by S. Ryzhakova also belongs here in some sense. V. Kulakov’s illustrated article focuses on archaeology. The reviewer suggests that the publication should be renamed as “Baltic, Slavic, and Baltic-Slavic Studies” rather than “Baltic-Slavic Studies” with regard to its content, because the articles of S. Nikolayev, A. Ryko, M. Tolstaya concern the problems of Slavic studies, whereas the works of A. Breidak, V.V. Smoczynski, J. F. Levin and N. Vėlius focus on the Baltic theme. The research of L. Kurkina and Ž. Varbot is related to the Slavic linguistic problems in the Indo-European context and to etymology. Only the works of V. Dyb, M. Zavyalova and V. Toporov focus purely on the Baltic-Slavic relations. The reviewer notes that this is not a reproach but rather a reflection of the real situation: there has been a considerable deficit of Baltic linguists in Russia. Yet the author resumes that the able generation of young Baltic linguists, who started actively working together with the patriarchs of Baltic studies V. Ivanov, V. Toporov and V. Dyb, gives hope.
