Summary / Abstract:

Autorius pabrėžia, kad jam nežinomas joks kitas būdvardis, kuris būtų sudarytas naudojant priesagą “-ima”.Reikšminiai žodžiai: Prūsų kalba; Old Prusian.

ENThe paper analyses the meanings of Prussian etwiriuns and senditmai. It notes that etwiriuns emerges as a hapax legomenon, the constituent part of the passive. The paper explains the motifs why etwiriuns should be read as etvirijans. With regard to the fact that neither Lithuanian nor Latvian has a paradigm root vowel alteration vir/-ver, the author tends to consider etwiriuns a secondary verb, belonging to -it. The author argues with V. Mažiulis who takes a different approach to the explanation of etwiriuns and corrects the word to etwiruns so that he could refer to the Lithuanian participle atvėręs [having opened] and interpret etwir as Prussian atver. According to the author, the formative ans of the participle has nothing in common with the Lithuanian formative es; therefore, he considers the direct connection of etwiriuns with Lithuanian atvėręs to be unfounded. The author explains the word senditmai as ištiestas [outspread]. The fact that a few rows below there is a variant senditans seems to be a mistake to be corrected. The author presents several other erroneous consonant letter examples. The relationship of the construction sen senditai with sen senditans is said to be the same as the relationship of en wissai with en wissans. The author does not agree with Mažiulis in this case, because the latter considers senditmai to be a singular dative form based on the secondary stem senditma -sendit-ima. The author stresses that he does not know any other adjective formed with the suffix -ima.
